How are you all, my relations. I am very grateful to be working here with you all. My name is Julia McDougall. I am a member of the Mikisew Cree First Nation from Fort Chipewyan, AB. My paternal grandmother is Dene and is originally from Fort McKay. I was fortunate to have been raised on my family’s trap-line in Wood Buffalo National Park close to Lake Claire.
I have taught both Elementary and High School students in Fort McMurray since the late 1990’s. I love my profession and most importantly building positive relationships with students, families, community members and staff alike.
At present, I sit on the Indigenous Advisory Circle with the Alberta Teachers’ Association. Our group provides guidance and feedback on Indigenous education programs and supports, such as workshops, resources and cultural protocols.
I am currently working towards obtaining a Master degree in Educational Studies through the University of Alberta.
I am looking forward to an awesome year with you all here at Elsie Fabian School. So proud to be a part of this wonderful school.
